Costa Calida Or The Warm Coast
Renowned for its unique micro-climate, one of the healthiest
in the world, the Costa Calida stretches for 250 km
from the Mar Menor down to Aguilas, in the south.
This beautiful rugged region with it's quaint fishing
villages and romantic hillside hideaways was one of
Spain's best kept secrets. However, this "forgotten
corner" is now attracting massive interest from
Spanish and foreign buyers.
Whilst prices are slightly lower than neighbouring Costa
Blanca, this region is set to achieve great popularity
over the next few years. Famed for its international
golf and tennis tournaments hosted over recent years,
the area is dominated by the Mar Menor (little sea)
which at 170 km2 is Europe's largest saltwater lagoon.
A windsurfer's paradise!
The Mar Menor is divided from the Mediterranean sea
by La Manga, a 22 km long narrow stretch of land which,
with it's numerous hotels, casinos, restaurants, beach-side
bars and watersports facilities, is very popular with
summer holidaymakers. The Mar Menor attracts watersports
enthusiasts all year round along with those who simply
want to enjoy the therapeutic qualities of the nearby
natural mud baths.
Cartegena and Mazzaron are two coastal towns attracting
interest as is the historical city and region of Murcia.
Indeed "Murcia" is fast becoming the new "buzz"
word for those considering the merits of investing in
Spanish property. The airport at San Javier is being
extended, plus a second international airport is currently
under construction and a high-speed railway will eventually
link the area with Madrid.
Here at Platinum Properties, we are continually sourcing
'up and coming' areas for investment, and or, re-location
purposes, and feel that the Costa Calida offers a tremendous
alternative as one of the most 'up and coming' Costas.
